ПЗС-матрица представляет собой полупроводниковую пластину, на которой образовано много ячеек - пикселей, каждая из которых - это маленький фотоприемник, преобразующий падающий свет в электрический заряд. Светочувствительный элемент является самой маленькой деталью изображения. ПЗС - матрица состоит из определенного количества пикселей по горизонтали и по вертикали. Этот параметр характеризует качество телевизионной камеры. Он определяет одну из важнейших характеристик - разрешающую способность телевизионной камеры (количество пикселей обычно от 270 000 до 440 000). Чем больше число пикселей, тем более качественное и четкое изображение может быть сформировано телевизионной камерой.
Основными параметрами, ПЗС матриц являются:
(1) размерность в пикселях;
(2) физический размер в дюймах - формат ПЗС матрицы (2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 и т.д.);
(3) чувствительность.
